[ Going to do a Grim fortress, named Grimhalls. The settlers of this new fort are known as the Dreadweavers. I will TRY to match people to their characters, but sooner than later it will be impossible, also don't get mad if you're the opposite sex of your character, can't control that bit though for the first seven I did... ok. ]
Log of Expedition Leader Bloodscream, 1 Granite 126
The Dreadweavers have made it to a promising site for a new fortress. We shall carve our home into the face of the mountain and build and dig as only proper dwarves can. It will be named Grimhalls. Today, we STRIKE THE EARTH!
We settle here with seven enterprising dwarves of my own choosing, aside from myself (a miner and the fortress’ broker),
Viktor, another miner,
Yemana, our carpenter and woodcrafter,
Sangjai, our woodcutter,
Ryanica, our hunter,
Yichimet, our farmer, brewer, and all things earthly and foodly,
and Anaie, our mason and tinkerer of mechanics.
In our wagon come two dogs and two cats, but I know there will be many more in the near future. Enough scribbling, the stone calls for my pick!
[ Oh, future pictures I'll remember to resize to be more forum friendly, my bad! ]

By Armok’s blood-encrusted beard, summer already and the dorms aren’t even dug out! The one downside to carving into a mountain is that it’s slow going compared to soft sand or clay. Speaking of, almost had Yichimet breathing down my neck because I couldn’t easily find any underground land for him to farm on! Found some, so dodged that bullet, but wasting too much time moving this stone to open up our first stockpiles. Still, we have plenty of food to last us to get us started.
Hmph, break’s over, back to work.

What a site for sore eyes, migrants! And not them useless dwarves that got kicked out for being useless, but honest to Armok workers! A butcher, tanner, another miner, another mason, and perhaps some animals. It’s a good day. Told Ryanica she could go back out hunting now that we have a butcher, bet she’ll run out of ammo soon, though.

Well the digging that’s gotta be done is done. So I told the boys that we’re gonna haul stuff around for awhile. We’re just too short handed still, and we need the help so the crafters can craft like they’re supposed to. I hope though that the fall migrants aren’t too good at much, I need hands that can carry stuff.

From the Journal of Krinathalasa, 8 Sandstone 126
I can see the western face of the peaks that are said to hold the Grimhalls, but I don’t know what to expect there. It doesn’t seem the dwarves here have gotten too much done since they founded the fortress within the mountain, but I do see a wall starting to go up just before the cliffs, I wonder what it’s for, no dwarf would live above the stone, would they? I didn’t come here to live above the earth, I came to smith! I’m a High Master smelter, but the mountainhome would not let me pick up the smithing hammer. I hope to change that here.
Mohan’s Log, 18 Timber 126
A report lies beneath a number of lists, seemingly logs of tanning supplies and leathers.
A badger attacked me today, nothing new there, but for some reason the ancestors’ rage swelled up in me as it tried to bite me upon the head. I latched onto the beast and swiftly wrapped my arm around its neck. It thrashed and tried to bite me numerous times to cause me to release it, but not this day. With Armok’s bloodhaze in my eyes I tightened my grip, a growl rumbling from my chest as I choked the life out of the miserable bit of vermin.

Hmph, not bad for a lowly tanner, eh?
[ Didn’t realize Mohan was a talented fighter, but woo beating up animals! ]

Re: Dwarf Fortress: Grimhalls
Mohan choked out a badger, just like that? That is seriously hardcore.
Re: Dwarf Fortress: Grimhalls
This ended rather abruptly and ingloriously as an ambush occurred, took out Ryanica, and then everyone else because my military wasn't ready yet.

Re: Dwarf Fortress: Grimhalls
Did you shout "There he is!" before the guild wiped? Because that's tradition.
