Cheese metal! It's metal like that that just makes most people roll their eyes, I think, heh.
I like the second link, though!
Here's some more folky stuff from the oldest Irish folk band there is. Had a chance to hear this track many times over my trips to Ireland in some out of the way pub... no experience quite like that genuine Old World drinking establishment.
Rocky Road to Dublin - The Dubliners

Love the Dubliners.Gint wrote:Cheese metal! It's metal like that that just makes most people roll their eyes, I think, heh.
I wouldn't call it Cheese Metal, I would call it themed metal. Considering I actually heard of that band from a major metal industry magazine, and the stuff is actually good (and fun). Honestly, most metal is cheesy... Iron Maiden (while awesome), Eddie is totally cheesy!
It's like saying Flogging Molly is Cheese Punk because they like pirates. heh.
And because I believe this thread should have a song in every post!
Seven Deadly Sins - Flogging Molly
Re: The Grim Listening Thread
Eh, two-dimensional songs about ale and wenching (which is the only subject matter they have) don't really equate with existential topics such as faith and religion, war, or the human psyche... but yes, Eddie is certainly his own crazyness in his own right.
Throwing a little of my main man 'ol Blue Eyes in the mix, since a little class goes a long way!

YAAARRRR~
Nick Cave - Fire Down Below
Anyone into chanteys should find themselves a copy of Rogue's Gallery. Only bad thing is that "...Drunken Sailor" is recorded horribly low. We've never been able to find a decent copy of the song. u_u;;

Meh, sometimes music just has to be fun (which ale and wenching is!)
I see your Sinatra (excellent choice, though I would have gone with Darin or Armstrong's version and Sinatra's "witchcraft" hehe love it) and give you another Rat Pack era classic: Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime - Dean Martin "I don't drink anymore, I freeze it now and eat it like a popsicle"
Love the Rat Pack... *sigh*
And for my Canadian friends Baby It's Cold Outside
