It does suck in some cases, but the defense I heard while in Indiana was "the extra hour would burn the corn"...and they weren't joking...makes me want to keep it longer to make sure that god damn corn burns.

Wait, I have to get a grip on this.  They were concerned that legislation would create an extra hour of sunlight per day, and this sunlight would damage the crops?

I don't know what disturbs me more, the idea that someone thinks the American government can legislate natural law, or what would happen if they could.

It's Indiana.

Look, we have smart people here. But....I mean, the state was practically run by the Klan until the 20's until it [url=http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.C._Stephenson"]all fell apart[/url]...and parts of the state, like Whiteland (yes, the actual name of the town), still are (I have a long story about a friend of mine about her time teaching there, being the token Korean in the school...and the classic "dumb redneck calls out a minority, but why would you say that when he is 3 times your size, plus the 15 other teammates that are with him, WTF" story...but I digress).

And let's not forget to mention the [url=http://"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indiana_Pi_Bill"]Indiana Pi Bill[/url]. And in more recent times (no reference, sadly), the state funding a multi-million dollar study as to why college students are leaving Indiana...and discovering that the reason is because, well, it's boring in Indiana.

(In all fairness, there was a 2nd reason for not going to DST, and it involves a weirdness in how Indiana handled DST. The areas around Louisville and Chicago stayed local to the respective cities time...which had some advantages to banks in Indiana who were making financial transactions between Chicago and NYC for part of the year)

But again, I don't live in Indiana anymore. Teh Stupid, it burns....and lord help me if I ever see another stalk of corn again.

I hate Daylight Savings Time with a burning passion. It is one of my two major annoyances, and its abolition is one of the two things I would campaign on if I was running for president. (The other being the adoption of the metric system).

Well then I suggest avoiding Scottyland and the Grim Camping trips. Massive fields of corn all along the roadside.

However, I highly recommend NOT avoiding the camping trips because I may have to hunt you down and drag you to them if I find out you're avoiding them because of corn.  Then I'll leave you in a cornfield when we're done with you.

What is bad is going to Purdue, where just past the football fields were cornfields...the campus surrounded by corn and soybean fields. No buildings, no nothing. Add to that the restriction on buildings no higher than 3 stories...

The cornfields were insane.  I'm actually surprised that Anaie didn't run us off the road to plow through them, but then I think you'd already filled the 'running off the road' quota, Inzema.  And Pincus is well-versed in Grim camping, as he was there the first year with his lovely (then future) wife.  Who learned that we called him Pincus, and that his character wore a dress.  Much amusement all around, especially for her.
