Meh, doesn't bother me too much. I'll certainly be using it, though it won't just be posted for everyone to see either.

Yeah I don't have any secret alts: If I don't want to deal with you guys, I play a different game.

I know a lot of folks don't really like where this is going. I think it's a safe bet to make in that we aren't going to require any of this stuff... except for maybe officers. MWHAHAHAHAHAHA! Take that, Greebo!

I love this guild, but I still don't want every single one of you knowing my account's email address.

Pretty much this, for me.

That's why it's for real friends, not the everyday losers you happen to play with. /sarcasm There is a reason why you have to accept the friend invite.
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to this. Got friends on different servers, who I'll be very glad to be able to tell when they're playing (to go join them), or simply to BS with.

from what i understood of it, if you make someone a real ID friend then all of their real ID friends will be able to see you too. i don't like that

My main source of upset is your real name being revealed. This isn't a problem in WoW so much for me, but the less-personal relations in Starcraft while still demanding people to be on a friends list with Battlenet 2.0 being as sparse as it is forms a significant problem.
Like most people, I like to keep a secret character or two though. The reasons for this are twofold:
1. I don't get whispers I don't feel like answering. It's not really a problem now, but in my previous guild, people seemed to love asking me their questions instead of opening MMO-champion or Elitist Jerks, inquiring as to what gems they should use, why my alts weren't in the guild, and what amount of capers should be used in chicken piccata.
2. Nobody needs to know I like cybering as transvestite Orcs selling themselves to high-end Goblin clients with a kodo fetish in Gadgetzan.

I always have secret alts. Nahr was a secret alt. Araun was a secret alt. I like building these little people in private and then revealing them only once they are perfect. Heck, the only reason Kelven joined the guild before he was 70 was because Q twisted my arm and frog-marched me over to the forums. I ended up standing before Yichi, ashamed, neither max level nor wearing any epics - it was like one of those nightmares where you're naked at school.
I'm apparently not alone in this and don't expect this feature to get much traction.
I also don't like revealing my real name, but only because it is astonishingly dull.

Personally I love the idea. Believe me that I won't be adding anyone that I don't see face to face on a daily basis. Deminthus will be added to that list as well as my brother and a mutual friend of ours. Neither my brother nor our mutual friend play WoW any longer but you can bet they play every other Blizzard game in existence. I hide alts as well but Deminthus and I work together every day and there's pretty much no point.
I will be able to play Diablo 3 and talk to Deminthus while he plays WoW as well as my brother while he plays Starcraft and my friend while he plays Warcraft. Basically all it means is that we don't have to run steam in the background just to chat cross game/server. Very nifty IMO. Will any of my guildies get or even want to be RealID friends? Nope.
As it was stated above your name and your e-mail address can be very personal things.

I wonder if your "friends of friends" can see you battle.net e-mail...
