Proof that even in 1645, strategists didn't like jumping.

He wasn't a strategist ya noob. Miyamoto Musashi was considered the greatest swordsman in Japanesse history and wrote the Book of Five Rings based on his fighting styhle. The style is still taught in Japan today.

"From youth my heart has been inclined toward the Way of strategy. My first duel was when I was thirteen, I struck down a strategist of the Shinto school, one Arima Kihei. When I was sixteen I struck down an able strategist, Tadashima Akiyama. When I was twenty-one I went up to the capital and met all manner of strategists, never once failing to win in many contests."

A strategist is one who advises armies in various combat manuevers to achieve victory, advises rulers to implement a political or govermental decision, or enacts their own strategies for their own benefit on a large scale. Sima Yi, Zhuge Liang, Patton, and even Rommel could be considered strategists. The only thing Musashi advised was a person or a group of people. He dueled, not strategized. Even if he didn't know the difference. Which makes sense since he rarely followed the norms of society.

He fought in wars as well, and after about 29, he primarily went around searching for the Way of Strategy, and the book mentions using the Way not only in small scale one on one, but large scale battles. It wasn't just for dueling. But this is off track. It was just supposed to be a quote for abric who hate's jumping.

"A strategist is a person skilled in designing and planning action and policy to achieve a major or overall aim."
Not restricted to large scale military combat... heck you could be a strategist if you planned out kitchen redecoration.
A dictionary is good.

Pfft. Dictionaries are written by fossilized old men. Doesn't mean Musashi was a strategist. He was a duelist. Damn good duelist.
