Moral of the story. I used the Curse Client program to install a mod, WoW became completely unstable, crashed after walking a few steps in Northrend, every single time I logged in. It then gave me an error log stating that my wow files were corrupted.
Repairing did not solve this, I had uninstall completely, start fresh. Re-installed all my mods manually from curse, and used my exact same WTF files and everything is working perfectly.
Incidentally, the mod I downloaded to try was Power Auras, but I think it was the Curse Client Application itself that is to blame.
So use the Curse Client at your own risk I suppose.
EDIT: Power Auras fucking rocks, don't be detered from using it, its the best thing ever.

Re: Curse Client Bewares.
Yes I can confirm that it is indeed an issue with Curse Client. I've known two other people who had almost your exact same story with different mods within the last month or so. Problem with the Curse Client is as long as a 'logged in' person uploads a new copy of an addon it doesn't scan or validate its source.
Re: Curse Client Bewares.
Based on the number of times I've heard of people getting screwed over by the Curse client - if not outright keyloggers, then just plain catastrophic bugs - I long ago decided it was not worth the effort.
