Grim Views

I have been trying to figure out exactly what it is that keeps me playing this game.  Especially since as of august last year I haven't been enjoying it as much as I used to.  I am especially curious about those people who only seem to play to raid anymore and are rarely seen beyond that.  What keeps you here in this specific game on this server doing content that technically we have finished.

So why do you still play wow through 2 expansions and 80 levels?

Nah seriously.. Ach and I discussed this maybe two months ago.. it's simply the friends I've made here. Otherwise I'da been long gone.

The roleplay is the main reason I am still here, most especially as Nymare.

Raiding is content, seeing parts of the game I might not otherwise see, bragging rights, masochism, whatever.  Mrgh, learning my class??  But it does also bring with it more things to question and then to go out into the world and discover, things to do outside of raiding.

And that is what I love about Nym, and possibly why I have played her for as long as I have - question and discovery.  Q helps.  They're almost always on some scooby-doo like adventure, and if you see them running in place, it's because of ALL THE SPILLED ALLIANCE BLOOD aaaaaaahahahahaaaa  ...  /cackle OFF

Being a Grim pretty much does it.  Good group of people to rp and go hop in instances with.  That I still want to complete my goal of getting all ten classes to max level someday.

The group of friends I've made here and new raiding content.  Thats all really.  Like most I have grown bored with WoW.  I guess the occasional rp is fun too when it happens.

It's fun, it's relaxing, I find the game's stories compelling, I enjoy my character, I like y'all, and most of all, it's fun. I think that it's a scarce commodity (i.e., free time to play) certainly helps me find it as enjoyable as I do.

I like the game.  I like the lore.  I like the silly things in the game, and the pets and the toys.  I like popping out of nowhere to cheap shot an Alliance and imagine him cursing at me from his end of the interweb.  I like learning how to constantly improve my toon to do more.  I like exploring places I've never been and doing quests I've never done before.  I like sneaking through enemy cities to see how much I can toy with Alliance there without getting caught.

I don't plan to have a level 80 of each class, but maybe someday I will have a rogue of every possible race. 

Roleplay keeps me playing.

For me, mostly the friends I've made, or known over the years from places other than WoW.  I love leveling characters, getting to know each class.  I love saving gold and then blowing it all in a day.  Heheh.

Mostly getting a chance to hang out with friends I have known for quite some time and getting to talk to them in that hang out kind of situation.  And loot card fun stuff, non-combat amusing items like pets and mounts, and maximizing DPS...

I've not been playing too much lately, but I can say, quoting most of the people, that the friends I made in game are it's anchor and major appeal.
Raiding is fun, beating/seeing content is also fun, but the moment you slow down or can't beat a challenge for X silly reasons, that you realize how pointless raiding can be. Getting loot to be stronger to beat harder challenges to get new loot to....
What matters is the fun you have performing said activities with people you like hanging around, even if only virtualy.

I'm pretty good at finding stuff to keep me amused.  Sometimes to my own detriment when there are other things I should be doing or said I would do.  If I really want to do something, I can find or create a reason to keep doing it.  Inherent positivity combined with an incredibly selfish nature and a character to match?

Scooby-Doo?  Okay, I get the mystery part, but, uh...  Ahahahaha!

There is so much I want to do that I haven't done on Greebo let alone on another toon that the idea of being bored with WoW is nonsensical. And to that the sense of accomplishment of doing big things with a lot of cool people and there ya go. Of course it has been less than 2 years for me in the mmorpg thing so I have that going for me. It isn't a question of "what keeps me playing" as it is the fact that all of the reasons that you start to play are still valid, nothing stale, nothing boring, so much still to explore.
