So yeah, I'll admit I picked up WAR again to see if any of the changes they've made since launch have made it a smoother game.

Short answer: Yes, the game itself runs much smoother.

Long answer: Apparently some players are still concerned about poor design. Not that the battles aren't fun, but that the battles aren't complicated. There's no availability for a multitude of tactics when it comes to keep or fortress siege. Right now it's run up the ramp, kill the Keep/Fortress Lord. Oh? What's that? There's a tank wall at the top collision blocking you while RDPS picks you off? Too bad. The ramp is the only way up.

That's the -big- problem people really mutter about. Defense is too easy. Also, other than pride, there's no true reason to defend ANYTHING outside of T4. The renown for taking simply exceeds the renown gotten for defending, even killing attacking players.


Class balance: What MMO doesn't tweak balance non-stop? The game is still fresh, so balance is a bit more apparent than WoW, but it's not nearly as bad as Launch.

Anyway, I mostly bring this thread up as Gurthoira and I have been mucking around on off-times. Mostly as there's not -much- to do besides raiding and raid material farming until 3.1. I mean sure there's WoW pvp, but --- well that's a slippery slope. The point is no matter what I say about one or the other there will be good points made otherwise.

So I'll get to the meat and potatoes of this post. For those interested, Gurthoira and I are on Phoenix Throne as Order, and my older Order characters on Ostermark. I -used- to be Order on Ostermark, but the population on that server is rather low, Phoenix Throne has a much livelier existence. I know some Grim rolled up on an Open RVR/RP server, but that one's closed down. PT and Ostermark are the only two RP servers left at all so... if you have a character you still play, or wanna mess around with Gurthoira and me during the day, look us up.
