That's what happened to Ulgrath, too.  I was speaking with Sanuye earlier today - and he has to wait for his stuff.

The Chinese have been working hard on those hardly used accounts!  How, I don't know... but I think it's a conspiracy with IGE, buying out some Blizzard employees.

This happened to my mother too! Her account which hadn't gotten used for um... geez, MONTHS got snagged in October and her and her guild's bank got cleaned out.

She got everything back, but yes.. an inactive account.

Sooo..

I came back to WoW after being gone for so long, I had to take time for myself- yahknow? When I come back, I tell my friends I am back, and I'm excited, but I also have this issue: I will be online a few nights a week because to play WoW I have to go to my friends house on my laptop.

I get everything downloaded, I pay my 2 months via card, spend some game time on... log off after around two hours. I go home, come back the day after that to find my account has been hacked- not only has it been hacked, i am banned. Not only am I banned, but when i am un-banned I come back and all my stuff is missing... everything I worked months and months for.

When this is all resolved, I get an email telling me everything has been reinstated- before this time I'd changed my Email Password, my WoW password multiple times, and I was thinking of changing my email account as well.

I was excited, I thought "Wow, today I can actually have stress free game play." So, today, I come to my friends house, we hang out, we go to the movies, I try to log online. My password doesn't work. I log into my email. Someone has changed my password again.

I change my password to something else..... again.
I change my email....
I want to change my secret question- but I can't- I am banned.... again.

Within 4 hours of them giving me all my stuff back, without me logging online with the changed password- without any trojans in my computer.... my account again is banned, I have emails from Blizz telling me they have to investigate it.

I haven't gotten any further response, but I've asked for a screen name change as well- I know that might not do much, and I don't know if they can even do it... but I am so upset, and I feel very... exposed... I didn't have as much gold or items as many others have/had, and it's getting under my skin...


I keep saying "why my account?" It had less than 5k gold on it.


Rgghh.

Is this happening often?

I think its fairly safe to say you have a key logger, maybe whatever protection you are using is saying you don't but you might. Either that or somebodies tehory about employees inside Blizz selling account info is bang on.

In all honesty I wouldn't be suprised if a blizzard employee was selling account info, quite the opposite, I would be suprised if there wasn't one. I bet my left nut I make twice as much money as a GM and thats pretty sad.

I wouldn't doubt it... Maithanet told me to just get another account... but really?  Is that what I have to do?  I mean i already had this one for years... I played this server as Alliance and got Ganked by The Grim, even though I was a Horde-->Alliance-->Horde all those years ago...

I don't want to give this account up.    So much time and energy.

...... That is the stupidest comment I've ever heard.  Maith told you to just get a new account?  /facepalm

Avast - BEFORE you even go about changing passwords on your email, WoW, anything - download and let Avast go through its first boot-cycle scan.  You obviously have a keylogger on your laptop, and that needs to be dealt with before you can deal with correcting the damage it has done.

And yes, get an authenticator too.  Keep meaning to order one myself, but space on it.

Well depending on how many character syou have you could just transfer them to you rnew, hacker free, account. But its 15 bucks a pop. Honestly I think the authenticator will keep you safe as long as you don't have any major viruses that should solve most of your issues

Thing is Coyo- I ran Avast, I ran it multiple times...

Even boot scan... It says nothing is wrong... not at all... >.<

Yeah that's pretty much what he was advising.. but I've had this account for over two and a half years- I lost the account before this to Keyloggers because I used a fake name when I made it... It's grand ol' fun...


Edit: I have too many characters I'd need to/want to transfer off from too many servers --.--

Yeahhhhhhhhhh... I made a second post.

Might be best to just completely wipe the hard drive and do a fresh install of everything.

Who was saying that there was a server-side hack?
