Khorvis builds a new computer OR Big pile of smelly parts

Unread post by Khorvis »

Once upon a time, Khorvis would upgrade his computer parts on a regular basis, keeping up with the curve, and spending many dollars.

Then came the dark times...

I have not really upgraded my PC in about 6 whole years. It's time to invest!

Here are a few important components that I am looking to purchase over the next week. Please speak up if you think that I am wasting money or time.

CPU: Intel i7-7700K from my old i7-2600

Motherboard: MSI Z270

HDD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB solid state drive from my old physical disc

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB from my 8GB of whatever

I'm not entirely sure about the RAM. It seems a little pricey, but I don't want to skimp. I have an Nvidia GTX 1060 for a video card, so that is fine for now.

MMO champion system guides are still pretty nice. I would recommend an Asus motherboard instead, though Loop is having a bad experience with their service department.

Might want to throw in a regular HDD at some point as well, or maybe an external USB one,

Yea, I've got a few regular HDDs sitting around for storing non-essential stuff. Also, I listed the wrong RAM - I bought the 3000mhz version. Now I just need to figure out how overclocking works.

Might I suggest this for you monitor. The 144hz will be so sexy on that rig. I got this for myself after Ruuki built her new pc. Worth every penny.
