Post-Trailer Discussion

The full CGI cinematic is coming in the future
The Broken Isles was a vast Night Elf civilization, we now have the bones of that civilization. The entire continent is a graveyard of sorts. It has the tomb of Sargeras, a gateway to endless Legion worlds.
A giant demonic invasion is currently underway. The biggest one ever!
We are taking the fight to Gul'dan, fighting at the tomb of Sargeras, then the story begins. This will take place before the expansion launches. It is like the story leading up to Warlords with the Dark Portal, but better.
Everyone who has played WoW is going to be shocked.
Ashbringer and Doomhammer weapons are coming as Artifact weapons, as well others.
We are here to restore peace to the world by forming or renewing class orders, like the Silver Hand.
We are going to need all of the help we can get to fight the Burning Legion, so Demon Hunters are key.
The last time we faced Demon Hunters, most of them wanted to kill us. We will see through Illidan's eyes the story of the Illidari.
We will see the prison world of Shardoom, where all of the demons were held. Then we go to the Vault of the Wardens.
We find the Pillars of Creation.
Dalaran, Kirin Tor, Khadgar are all coming to the Broken Isles.
Dalaran will be the main hub of the expansion..
We go to Val'Sharah, a forgotten Druid refuge. The place Malfurion became the first Druid. We face Xavius, who is trying to unleash the Emerald Nightmare into our world. We enter Black Rook Hold.
We are going into the Emerald Nightmare, will get glimpses into the Emerald Dream.
Stormheim has the Vrykul that left Northrend thousands of years ago. We learn about the Val'kyr.
In Azsuna we will be racing Queen Azshara for control of the Pillars of Creation in the zone.
Highmountain is the home of the Highmountain Tauren. We will visit the lair of the Earth-Warder. Nessingwary also will appear here.
Suramar has a new race of elves made from an old race of elves. They have lived here for 10,000 years and have flourished due to their magical ability. They have become pawns of the Burning Legion and have the last relic we need. We have to kill them all, their guard, and Gul'dan to secure the last relic.
Valyria and Turalyon are here!

Artifacts

There are 36 Artifacts, one for each specialization.
You start by seeking out the Artifact for your spec.
Ret Paladin - Seek out Ashbringer
Frost Death Knight - See out Frostmourne's shards in Icecrown Citadel and reforge them into a pair of runeblades
Earn Artifact Power as you accomplish things. Completing quests, dungeons, battlegrounds, and most major activities. The power is spent to unlock traits that empower your weapon and character, as well as visual customizations.
Each artifact has a trait tree. You choose how you navigate the tree.
Some are simple damage increases, some are new utility such as Death Knights resurrecting themselves.
Each weapon has different looks that you can unlock. Some unlocked by leveling your weapon, some are achievements, raiding, and PvP. Each look has different color variants.
The base weapon has the look we all know and love. There are variants such as an Ashbringer made out of fire, shadow, and lightning.
Sheilun, Staff of the Mists - Mistweaver Monk will go to Pandaria. Variants have Pandarian influences such as the Crane or Sha.
Felo'melorn - Fire Mage will seek out the blade
The Eagle Spear - New to the lore. Highmountain Tauren weapon for Survival Hunters. Several animal themes.
Icebringer and Soulreaper - Blades forged out of Frostmourne. Lots of skulls!
Doomhammer - Enhancement Shamans earn this weapon. Fel, Fire, Crystal, and other variants.
Fangs of the First Nightsaber - Feral and Guardian druids customize the look of their form rather than a weapon. Spectral, Armored, and other variants will be available. Base cat form also getting an updated model.

Class Orders

Alliance and Horde are fighting, but classes can band together to fight this threat.
There will be a heavy focus on class identity.
You lead the Class Order.
Order Halls are a base of operations for your class. You share them with other players of your class. Only members of your class can enter this area, similar to the Death Knight starting area.
Halls will be located in thematically appropriate areas.
Shamans in a cave near the Maelstrom.
Paladins will be under Light's Hope Chapel.
Warlocks will be on a Legion Portal World.
You get special quests and work on your Artifact weapon here.
Your Hall has Champions, an evolution of the followers. This time around you aren't raising an army, but a small group. Some will be established characters. There will be more integration with the world. They won't do things instead of you, but help you to accomplish things. They discover an area for you to investigate. You work alongside them and with them rather than sending them out on missions.

Dungeons and Raids

Dungeons are essential to the MMO experience and there should be more of them with reason to do them for the entire expansion.
Halls of Valor - High up in the clouds, level up dungeon. Inspired by Valhalla.
Black Rook Hold - Max level dungeon in Val'Sharah. Was a bulwark against the Legion, carved out of the mountain to be a fortress. A shadow fell upon it, so you fight your way through to the top to solve this problem.
Vault of the Wardens - Return to the Demon Hunter prison where you begin the hunt for Illidan.
Eye of Azshara, Darkheart Thicket, Neltharion's Lair, Helheim (Takes place on a ghost ship sailing through the sea), Suramar City (City of Night)
Violet Hold - Deep secrets here awakened by The Broken Isles. We learn more about the origins of Dalaran, mages of Dalaran, and the world itself.
The Emerald Nightmare - Raid with 7 bosses. Players have always wanted the Emerald Dream. We climb into the tree and cross through to the Dream.
Suramar Palace - 10 bosses. Home to the Nightwell, center of Suramar's power. Face off against Gul'dan. Start in a catacomb, work your way up to the Nighwell and Gul'dan. He can't run away this time! Not a green Orc raid. It is a royal Elven city.

Demon Hunter

Horns come with different styles, types, no horns is an option.
Tattoos are another feature with variations.
Skins can be normal, scaly, different colors.
Eye coverings
Hero Class - unique starting experience and start at a high level.
Awaken in the Vault of the Wardens, awoken to fight the Legion.
See the past, Illidan sends you on a mission to another world.
Demon Hunter specs - Havok (DPS Spec) and Vengeance (Tank Spec). Only two specs. Demon Hunter healer didn't make sense. Two DPS or Tank specs would water down the identity of the class.
Skills can cost Fury or generate Fury.
Spectral Sight - Allows you to see through walls
Double Jump - get over things that other classes cannot!

Honor System

Gear playing such a huge factor in PvP isn't great.
PvP talent system will help to balance PvP independently from PvE. Abilities only work in PvP.
You unlock more and more, giving you more options as you PvP more.
Abolish Magic - Dispel all magic every 2 sec for 6 sec. Replaces Dispel Magic. 20 sec cooldown.
Blood and Soil - Shaman talent take reduces Bloodlust cooldown, only works for you when cast.
Mind Quickness - add 15% haste
Necrotic Strike - Absorbs heals on the enemy target.
Prestige Ranks - You can reset your honor level and do it again for cosmetic rewards. This is extra rewards for players that do a lot of PvP.
You can earn a badge for your unit frame that shows your rank, special mounts, and PvP Artifact variants.

Here is the replay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1WIEl4hRvA

You need to advance to 30 mins (couldn't copy the time URL for some reason).

Oh, skip to 34 mins, if you don't want a WoD spoiler.

Yeah, seems only elves will be able to be demon hunters. Makes sense.

The expansion site is still down...

What we really need in this expansion are more elves and more melee. Oh, wait....

Legion page: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/legion/#home
Demon Hunter class page: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/class/demon-hunter

Demon hunters can, in addition to seeing through walls, also see through stealth and invis with that ability. And yes, they can only be elves.

I'm confused about the PVP Honor changes. I understand the talents, but will we still get gear? Or is PVP gear going away and we'll have to raid to get good gear?

The rest of it looks pretty cool, or at least has the potential to be fun. I can't wait to see the rogue weapons, and hope they aren't too flashy or huge, or at least can be transmogged if they are.

I swear, their CGI department exceeds expectations every.single.time.

Oh, yeah. Watching the xpac video, it's clear: DH are night elves or blood elves. Welp, guess I'm going Alliance. >_> (Unless one of the DH belf skins looks un-belfy.)

Stupid feed jumps. Alex (Furor) talked about the pre-xpac experience, but I didn't get to hear any of it.

I really hope that the opening for DH is longer than the opening for DKs. Mind you, I hate the DK area now because I've played through it multiple times, but I don't intend to do DH more than twice. So, yeah, gimme like 10+ levels in their area.

I like the return of a neutral faction hub. While it doesn't work well with our RP, I like the idea of both factions having some tenuous peace to fight the Legion.

Druid lore, omg. Finally. Entering into the Emerald Nightmare, and seeing peeks at the Dream? Nice.

More of the norse influences from LK being drawn into the Broken Isles also. Vyrkul and the like.

More tauren! With elk horns. Interesting. Plus mention of Neltharion.

More elves. Hope Syreena keeps her daggers sharp, she'll be getting a lot of ears. And we get to utterly decimate them in order to get one of the Pillars.

----

Ha, I just got the math. 36 artifacts, one for each class & spec... but DH only have two specs... oh right, druids have four. /facepalm

You start working on your artifact almost immediately.

Prot warriors get weapon/shield forged out of Deathwing's scales.

Virtually any activity in WoW will earn your artifact power for your weapons.

Frost DK weapon: one of the traits you can unlock from your weapons alters your Raise Dead. Either fully replenishes a fallen ally (full health/mana), OR rez yourself.

For Ashbringer they show 5 different appearances (default, Corrupted, etc.) and then there's different colors attainable within each.

Sheilun, the mistweaver staff, you need to travel to Pandaria to locate it (each weapon sends you to a different location).

Felo'melorn - Kael's weapon against the LK. Fire mage weapon. Starts off looking very belf at its base.

Eagle Spear - Highmountain Tauren lore weapon. Survival hunters.... (huh? Are they chucking a spear now?)

Icebringer/Soulreaper - Frost DKs.

Woo, Doomhammer!

Trolling druids.... all three images of the druids are initially the same. Then he switches slides and, oh, goddamn, the new forms look awesome. Yes, Coy will be spectral. So spectral. Such wow. Druids will get the same number of variants as others.

Class halls really push the idea of you are playing a true HERO in WoW. The members of the Hall look to you as their leader. Huge push off the garrison idea. It is a shared space among the class though. Sounds like you locate the hall after you locate your artifact, so still in the low levels.

Champions in the Hall, rather than Followers in your garrison. Fewer of them, intending to make them more meaningful. "Knights of the Round Table" is their reference. More integration around the world, and more interaction. You will still send them out, but the result is different from the garrison in that they give you a new area to explore, or a buff to something while in an area. Sounds very world-encompassing, not just "I'm gonna log into my hall and do some missions."

Valhalla inspired dungeon. One of the Pillars is in the dungeon. You need to prove yourself in battle to claim the Pillar.

The dungeons look much better than WoD's (hell, there's still one dungeon I haven't done in WoD....).

Vault of the Wardens sounds awesome. (Though one person said on an MMO thread they expect Milhouse to be in one of the prisons).

8 dungeons, I think. Ugh, another immersive dungeon. Nelheim, a ship on stormy water, as the whole of the dungeon. Ion made it sounds bigger/better than Grimrail. Violet Hold returning, since it obviously comes with Dalaran.

Emerald Nightmare raid. 7 bosses. Glimpses of the Emerald Dream. Face Xavius.

Suramar Palace. 10 bosses. Face Gul'dan. Takes place in a Royal Elven city. So it not green and demon orcy.

-----

Demon Hunters -

Nelf, Belf. Horns, eye masks, tattoos - in character creation.

Metamorphasis isn't just for warlocks anymore.

High level start, but they don't say what level. Probably like the setup with DKs, so 95 > 100 will be learning the backstory, jumping into the xpac at 100 when you finish up the opening story.

RP-wise... who the hell would trust a DH? They're on missions from Illidan?!

Havok, melee DPS spec. Vengeance, tank spec. No diluting the class with two DPS specs. Warglaive weapons, obviously.

Vengeful Retreat + Fel Rush : vault back to avoid the next attack/spell against you > charge back in leaving a trail of fel flame in your wake. Awesome. (Fel Rush looks very short range, but it has multiple charges.)

Chaos Nova - 1min AoE blast.

Double-jump is going to be cheese. (Or... maybe not after seeing it used. Don't think you're going to be jumping -up- extra, just further forward. So cheese Heroic Leap is probably still better for getting up to locations.)

----

PVP Honor System "version 3"

They don't like gear being such a huge difference between players in PVP.

Honor unlocks PVP talents. Will now be balanced independently from PVE, as it's only active in BGs/arenas. The talent tree looks like a standard tree, except it behaves completely differently. Instead of unlocking rows from top to button, you unlock the first talent of each row first, then the second column of each row, then finally the third. So everyone is running similar talents until they get hgher and can pick between two-three talents.

So it will be like a four spec, but it's on its own tab.

After you max out (honor level 50), you can "reset" your honor and start up in Prestige, which will be all cosmetic (and much like D3's system with unique badges, etc.).

He spoke of gear, but with no specifics outside of a brief mention of after getting and upgrading your gear you could reset to 1 for the prestige system.

I don't see how adding talents is going to change the entry barrier. It seems like it will still exist, but in two formats now: gear and talents.

So the whole Class order thing... when they saw uniting our classes, they don't mean cross-faction I hope. Cuz I'll kill every single Alliance Paladin. For realz.

Why would a Sunwalker want to be with the Silver Hand? Why would a Blood Knight? Why not do faction/race Orders? A Sunwalker order. Expand on the lore of the Blood Knights or Hand of Argus.

Missed opportunities, in my opinion. I get what they're trying to do and I think it's cool, but it could have been cooler. Maybe. I dunno. Things can change!
