SW: The Old Republic

does this mean SWG is being canceled?  seems silly to liscence two SW MMos at the same time.

My understanding, but don't quote me on this because it may be wrong, is that the SW license is granted to SOE in time increments, like a lease. What I have heard is that that lease is up for renewal again summer of 2009, so if it is true I would not be suprised if SWG ceased to exist on that day. It is all speculation however. Funny thing is though on the official SWG boards there are posts that say "Old Republic will kill SWG" and there are people telling those folks they are wrong since SWG has survived this long, it will keep going. These people are all dillusional however since everyone with half a brain knows SWG is already dead, its just got enough subscribers left to pay for the life support.  It used to have a couple hundred thousand people at its peak, now I hear its numbers are in the thousands.

On the bright side if BIOWARE is ever curious about what not to do all they have to do is look at that game.
