A severed foot, while it’s not unusual to find one littering Lordaeron, this foot however, has a magical rune on the bottom written in Thalassian a name “Umbra Longheart”… an almost human sounding name. An astute observer could have stumbled across a second of these feet in any locale where people gather and prepare before going off to adventure. A sharp eye and curious nature will have been able to find several similar feet in their time traveling about the various outposts and garrisons of the Forsaken surrounding the Undercity. Only by indulging in a macabre curiosity will the investigator discover a thin parchment rolled and stuffed into a cavity where bone once thrived. The putrid note written in unremarkable script reveals yet more questions.
“Our reclusive nature has made you hard to contact, ever since the day Azeroth shook we have been apart, I’ll do anything to find you, my master. If I be so favored by luck that you would find this, please seek me out. I've been using the moniker Umbralheart. If luck does not favor me, and the person reading this has resources to spend or knowledge to exploit, I’d gladly serve you until I may unite with my master, and beg him to reward your assistance with his gratitude or wealth or knowledge. I frequent the Undercity, please find me, I’m beginning to have odd sensations in my feet”

Re: A grim but vague totem
A wrinkled little goblin wandered into the Inquisition office and dropped the foot on Qabian's desk. "Hey, boss. Yanno, seeing as things are what they are, thought you might want to see this." She pulled the note out of the foot and rolled it out in front of him.
Qabian stared at the goblin as if she had three heads for a moment, then slowly peered over the note. "Well, that's... several styles of unfortunate, and something that loses limbs and pledges to a master isn't exactly inspiring, but I suppose I can try to track them down and... learn more-- Where are you going?"
The goblin was already halfway back out the door. She shrugged. "Back to work."
"Take this with you," Qabian said, pushing the disembodied foot toward the edge of the desk with the end of a pen.
"Nuh uh," she said, and took off running down the hallway.
Qabian sighed. With one arm, he swept the foot and the note off the desk into a metal can already brimming with crumpled papers, snapped his fingers, and let it all burn.

A letter tracks down the name from the note.
"I found your foot. We should talk. Find me in Brill.
