A Grisly Statue

This object was subtly placed at a distance from the Grim outpost, and the sounds it made as the wind blew through it are what attracted the initial attention of the watchers. Various drilled holes create a chorus of sounds that seem to blend various screams depending on the angle and severity of the wind.

The statue, if you could call it that, has various bits of bone meticulously pinned together with brassy bits of Arakkoan needlry. Each major bone is from a different race, and the statue is deformed into a horrible, broken position of fear, arms raised before the thing's skull. Each finger bone is disjointed; the knuckles each from a dwarf, the various fingerbones an alternating pattern of Draenei, Human, and Kaldorei. The arms are stitched together from carefully matched bits, no structure sharing an adjacent race, the grotesque structure largely symmetrical.

Each bone is carefully etched so that light shines through to the hollowed out bones. Where there are no holes carved, the etchings form phrasings in the former owner's native language. When translated, they speak last words; some are threats, others confusion, some abject screams. Some are merely campfire conversations, or quietly voiced fears. If the abomination were dissembled, several continuous conversations might be pieced together from its components.

A piece of parchment is rolled in its mouth, between the jaws, like a vellum tongue. It reads:

"The mudmen of the Alliance dared to reach for the sun, and their pink flesh shall burn for their trespass. I have heard loud whispers that I should show you my dedication to your righteous cause before I make my appearance known. Secrets wasted brought my people to ruin. I have revealed the secrets of the ruiners in turn, on their bones.

This "Alliance" will find no quiet dark. Only the burning wrath of my sun and claws. Long live your Mandate.
