An Invitation to Slaughter

Grim, As I was dispensing justice to the Alliance I encountered a mad troll. In between her incoherent blathering about knee caps she managed to convey her knowledge of a group of Horde who understand the teachings of the Dark Lady. For many years I have wandered alone through the world teaching All...

Re: DDR3 help

Yeah, not going to work in dual channel mode. It should work non-dual channel but I wouldn't rely on it. Consumer/Desktop Mobo's just aren't clever enough to handle mixed memory sizes on dual channel. There will be a compromise somewhere in the design of the board or the bios. (No way that board is ...

Re: Diablo 3 patch 2.0.1

My WD can do Torment II easily (was farming MP5 before, MP8 non-elites). The npc density changes hurt the build a little bit though. (COB build). Got some nice gear but none of it is better than my Zumi set *yet* but it is close. Started a HC Wizard and I'll try to do self-found only and see how lon...

Re: access to thegrim.org

As it's affecting access to the minecraft site as well, it's dns related, probably dnssec and something not authenticating properly. Pincus controls the dns setup so he'll have to take a look at it.

Re: Been a while since you've had: AN ORACLE THREAD!

If you're going over the Internet your traffic is going to get split into ATM packets at some point, so I wouldn't worry about packet size. The fact you care about packets is a sign that the process isn't written for the Internet in any way, shape or form. If you're doing a lot of back and forth tra...

Re: Virtual Server discussion thread

Emerald Dream is part of our CRZ though, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do merge us. Digging through my ancient memory, Maelstrom and Emerald Dream were the first two rp-pvp servers released the same day. They were vastly overloaded so they added TN 3 day later and those of us that came over fro...

Re: Mumble Hosting Question

Pincus will know the murmurd details far better than me, but you didn't say which distro you're using it on and it could make a difference. Ubuntu doesn't like using root for anything (and its effectively disabled on the grim server). Pincus and I are set as sudo'ers though so we can run anything wi...

Re: PC issues

Maybe reseat the CPU heat sink to help with the temps, you'll need to get some thermal paste first - I use Article silver (or go get a corsair h50 water cooler, I really like these for non-over clocked setups) Definitely looks like the gpu is the bottleneck though. Check the drivers as suggested, al...

Re: PC issues

Run the windows performance index for shits and giggles. Don't expect 7.9's (hell, my twin 2GB ati 5870's only score 7.6 at 2560x1600 ;) but a good number will show its something very wow specific that's the problem, a low number will point to the machine itself. 58C on the processor isn't too bad a...

Re: PC issues

You don't say what resolution you are playing at so it's hard to say if the card is up to the task or not. It should be, my setup is 2 years old and it still runs wow fine so nothing has changed that much in how hard wow pushes the system. You do need to figure out if its gpu bound, CPU bound or har...
